Local Partners

Our use of local Welsh produce is integral to our approach to food at Tŷ Mawr.

David and Gill have excellent relationships with local partners so that the majority of ingredients for the dishes come from Carmarthenshire and we aim to source as much as possible within a 30-mile radius.

Fferm Tyllwyd Welsh Black Beef

We are honoured to have the opportunity to provide the Organic Grass Fed Welsh Black Beef which comes from Fferm Tyllwyd.

  • The RSPB have approved the farm to help Farmland Birds.

Gwenyn Gruffydd Honey

Gruffydd and his wife, Angharad live on their smallholding on the outskirts of Cwrt Henri village which is situated between the stunning Cothi and Tywi valleys, Carmarthenshire. It is from there that Gruffydd looks after his hives which live at several locations across the county. The closest hive is over the road from Tŷ Mawr so the bees you may see in our garden may well be collecting nectar for your next visit!

This pure single origin Welsh wildflower honey has won numerous awards in recent years with beekeeping training and experience days for individuals interested in learning more about beekeeping now available.

Y Felin St Dogmaels – A Traditional Water Mill Producing Stone Ground Flour

Emma and Justin run the mill which dates back to the 12th Century situated just outside Cardigan near the coast. There is so much history here to learn about here and how flour is made. Well worth a visit when you are with us, at sometimes of the year you can book a tour. We use the flour in our home-made bread. It’s a beautiful drive to the mill over the mountain behind Tŷ Mawr.

Myrddin Heritage

Tanya and Owen have a small holding near Carmarthen where their pigs are free range and love outdoors 24/7 doing what all pigs should be able to do… root, forage and graze. Only prime cuts are used to make the most wonderful handmade sausages which we serve on our breakfast and sometime dinner menus.

Defaid Dolwerdd Dairy Sheep Cheese

Nick and Wendy make the most exciting Sheep’s Cheese from their wonderful flock. The Hard and Soft Cheese covers a wide range of flavours including many of the best cheese we have eaten. Our favourite is their take on a Manchego.

Penderyn Distillery, Brecon

Penderyn produce a number of our local drinks including the famous Single Malt Whisky and wonderful gins including the Brecon Botanicals Rhubarb and Cranberry Gin we use to make our Brechfa Blush!
